Ronald Barnes

Carolyn McDonald - March 18th, 2017
Ronnie, as we knew him, was my neighbor for as long as we lived in Sturgis.  We played, along with his 2 sisters, Renee and Bonnie, all summer long outside, and in the winter ate lots of popcorn while working on jigsaw puzzles that were always "going", in their basement family room.  Having a "B" starting last name, we sat together all through school.  Ronnie always had lots of penny candy in his pockets, to share.

Gary Biesheuvel

Carolyn McDonald - March 18th, 2017
Gary never had much to do with me after the 6th grade, when he was involved in the accident that broke my arm, while working on our homecoming float.  I never held it against him, but in retrospect, I should have told him that.  Then maybe we would have been able to know each other better.
GARY HUFFMAN - March 7th, 2017
GARY AND I WERE THE CLOSEST OF FRIENDS THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL. ONE THING ABOUT TINY, HE WAS ALWAYS GAME FOR ANYTHING. WE RODE MY MOTOR CYCLE TO CALIFORNIA IN 1963. WE WENT TO YELLOWSTONE ONE FORTH OF JULY FOR THE HELL OF IT. HE WAS A FANTASTIC FRIEND.

Leroy Biesheuvel

Carolyn McDonald - March 18th, 2017
I never got to know LeRoy while he was in our class of'62, but later on got to know him and his wife through the Jackpine Gypsies, and the Motorcycle Rally.  He  was a very kind, and compasionate man.  I admired his gift of helping so many people in the remote area of Montana, where medical care was so scarce.  He loved his work, and his wife and family.
GARY HUFFMAN - March 15th, 2017
AFTER HIS JUNIOR YEAR LEROY FIGURED HE HAD LEARNED EVERYTHING HE NEEDED IN LIFE, SO HE DROPPED OUT OF SCHOOL TO GO OUT AND SEEK HIS FORTUNE. HE FOUND THAT EVERY JOB HE WAS INTERESTED IN REQUIRED A MINIMUM OF A HIGH SCHOOL DEPLOMA. HE RETURNED TO SCHOOL AND GRADUATED WITH THE CLASS OF 62 AND HAD A SUCCESSFUL CAREER IN MEDICINE AS A NURSE PRACTITIONER.

George Brown

Carolyn McDonald - March 18th, 2017
George was another classmate whose last name began with "B", so we always sat in the same area.  He always teased and tormented me, which was annoying, until later in life he said it was his way of telling me that he had a "crush" on me.  I too, admired his dancing skills, but alas, was such a poor dancer, that he never asked me to dance with him.  Sure could have used a few lessons from him!
GARY HUFFMAN - March 15th, 2017
GEROGE IS ANOTHER OF OUR K THRU 12 STUDENTS. AFTER A SERIOUS BOUT OF RHEUMATIC FEVER HE ENDED UP REPEATING THE SEVENTH GRADE AND BECAME A MEMEBER OF THE CLASS OF 62.

Jerry Burnham

Carolyn McDonald - March 18th, 2017
ps:  Another "B" starting last name.
Carolyn McDonald - March 18th, 2017
Jerry always had "cool cars".

Daniel Davis

Charles Follette - September 1st, 2017
Dan was a close friend of mine throughout High school and college. In fact, about the only thing I did during high school (besides debating and taking care of dairy cattle) was to play pool in the cattleman's Bar with Dan.

When we went to BHTC, we did so as roommates--soon to be joined by Freddy Gale. I have some incredible memories of living with him, but ignorance of statutes of limitations prevents me from sharing them. I do, though, remember once when our next door neighbors sneaked into our room. Freddy was asleep (I think), and Dan and I were dozing. We watched as they filled Fred's exposed hand with shaving cream and tickeled his nose. Fred pulled his other hand from under the sheets and rubbed his nose. Dan asked "When will you guys learn that we think faster in this room asleep than you do awake?"

I suspect that Gary may have been a bit older than we were (I heard he flunked kindergarten three times and I was always astounded that he managed to snag the sharpest girl in her class) so I won't make an issue of the accuracy of his memory. Nevertheless, the caper really began when Dan reported that he knew where some watermelons were growing--what use would we have had for pumpkins?--Anyway, it was a totally dark night and we slipped over to the watermelon patch. That's when we discovered they were pumpkins. Just so the trip would not have been wasted, we each grabbed a couple and started back. Just then the farmer hollared at us. Dan and I, not being hardened criminals, took off running. I'm pretty sure Homer himself wouldn't have been able to catch us. We ran smack into a derilect barbed wire fence. Gary arrived in his bathrobe--mosying along with his long geared stride--and helped us out of the fence.

We gave the pumpkins to the housemother and she made us a pie. Never asked how we happened to have six extra pumpkins.

Dan was such a good friend later on after we graduated.  We had some good times together at our reunions. He was one of the brave souls who dared to dance with me, and get his toes stepped on, while I tried "to lead". I really liked his sister, Mary Lou too.

Dan & I had adjoining rooms in the dorm as Freshmen at BHTC.  We were close friends and remained close until his death.  After closing the Wagon Wheel Bar one nigDan & I had adjoining rooms in the dorm as Freshmen at BHTC.  We were close friends and remained close until his death.  After closing the Wagon Wheel Bar one night, we ended up back at the dorm arguing about something and ended up going outside to settle it.  It was around 20 degrees and there was about a foot of snow and we were in our undershorts.  No shoes at all.  Within about 3 minutes we lost all interest in continuing the fight and went back into the warm dorm.

Another time Dan, Charles Follette & I decided we needed some pumpkins so we worked our way out accross country to the nearest farm.  I had just got out of the shower & was still in my robe, shower shoes and underpants.  Not exactly dressed for speed.  We had just grabbed our pumpkins when a porch light came on and a man came out and fired a shot gun.  We took off for campus!  As we approached the school a city patrolman came along shining his spot light around trying to find us.  Dan and Charles took off on a dead run while I lay flat on the ground believing that movement more than anything else makes you noticeable.  The cop moved on so I started towards the dorm.  I came upon Dan and Charles, they had taken out a four strand barb wire gate, a few minor cuts but nothing major.  The dorm mother made us a pumpkin pie on the condition that we never raid any of the valley farms....seemed like a good trade to us!

Mary Sue was a friend in school, and we had fun at reunions.  I miss her Dan at our reunions.
